Giving your customers a free vehicle history guarantee up to £30,000

From this week, anyone who reserves a vehicle through Deal Builder will receive a free 27-point Vehicle Check report, backed by a data guarantee up to £30,000*.

This report, along with the data guarantee, gives your customers extra peace of mind about the history of the vehicle when reserving a vehicle through Deal Builder.

We’re introducing this change to elevate the buying experience and drive more online sales for retailers through Deal Builder.

What type of Vehicle Check will your customers receive? 

Any of your customers choosing to reserve with Auto Trader will automatically receive a 27-point Vehicle Check report with the option to register for the data guarantee of up to £30,000.

This report is the same report available to retailers who subscribe to Vehicle Check as part of their Auto Trader advertising package. It gives details such as the history of a vehicle, number of previous owners, date of first registration, historic mileage details and other key details.

The information is gathered by Auto Trader from a variety of sources including the DVLA, police database, insurance companies and finance houses. The individual who receives the check is covered by a guarantee of up to £30,000 if any of the following data reported about the vehicle is found to be incorrect:

·      If the vehicle is stolen

·      Written off

·      Has outstanding Finance

·      Mileage

·      Import / Export

·      Number of keepers

·      Colour change

How does it work for your customers? 

When a customer chooses to reserve one of your vehicles through Auto Trader, they will automatically receive a free Vehicle Check with the option to register for the data guarantee up to £30,000.

As soon as the reservation has been placed, a summary of the Vehicle Check report will be emailed to them. The full report will be visible in their account area on Auto Trader.

The customer will then be prompted to register for the data guarantee ahead of purchase, which will involve them having to provide the VIN to Auto Trader. If the customer has chosen to have the vehicle home delivered, they will need to do this within 24 hours of taking delivery. 

If anything gets flagged on the check, we encourage the customer to either reach out to your business or the dedicated Vehicle Check team at Auto Trader to resolve this.

Changes to the Deal Builder minimum requirements

As of November, we’ll be removing the requirement to have a minimum 3-month warranty and money back guarantee. This information will no longer be visible on your advert pages or be marketed to consumers as part of reserving with Auto Trader.
